Izah Hankammer & inter:action (New Creators' Track by Action Zoo Humain)
As the drought tightens its grip on the earth, humanity is desperately searching for ways to survive. Three women must descend into an abandoned mine in search of a hidden water source.
Where will the search for water lead them? Their pulsating bodies move through the underground labyrinth, where rhythms and traces of the past resound like echoes. They unearth hidden histories and bring to light memories passed down from generation to generation. How did unequal systems of labour affect their bodies and those of their ancestors?
In TIMEAFTERTIME, new maker Izah Hankammer, explores who decides whose body, time and wellbeing are valuable or may be exploited. During the descent into the mine, another layer also comes to the surface: that of memories, resistance and acceptance.
Preliminary research & presentation
Ahead of the performance TIMEAFTERTIME, Izah Hankammer undertook artistic research in 2024–2025 as part of our New Creators' Track inter:action. As part of her research, she created the nomadic presentation THE TIME IT TAKES {nomadic}.

For this performance, Izah explored how the human body can act as a driving force for resistance. Drawing on this transformative power, she examined the political, cultural and social aspects of time and rhythm that shape our modern world.
'In a seemingly abandoned place where time solidifies, two bodies are subjected to a machine of tight rhythms and electronic sounds. Like in a feverish dream, the two bodies try to break free, looking for an alternative. In what remains, they fantasise about a place where time is spent differently.'
