Manou Selhorst
Manou Selhorst is a theatre maker, actor and flamenco dancer, based in Ghent. At the age of 10, she began her first flamenco lessons with Saïdjah Galo and Irene Álvarez. After secondary school, she moved to Seville to further her studies in this dance style under artists such as Ursula López, Leonor Leal, Andrés Marín and Ana Morales.
Seeking a better understanding of the world and the performing arts, she went on to study for a Master’s degree in Arts Studies (Performing and Media Arts) at Ghent University following her training in southern Spain. Alongside her enduring passion for dance, she also gained experience in acting during her studies, appearing in Testament van een Journalist by Chokri Ben Chikha / Action Zoo Humain.
Inspired by the possibilities offered by theatre, she undertook and completed a degree in Directing at the Maastricht Theatre Academy. It was there that she began her exploration of the intersection between dance and theatre, and of themes such as nostalgia, longing and faded glory. In May 2025, she presented her graduation production, Maître Nageur, at Arca Theatre. She is currently performing as a dancer in Karolien Verlinden’s new production, Re:Beat, as part of Luna Luz Sánchez’s ‘Cuerpos Prohibidos’ project, and is creating the production Room Service, produced by Action Zoo Humain (as part of the new artist programme Inter:Action).
