Room Service (WIP): Preview & Dinner Experience

Manou Selhorst / Inter:Action* (Action Zoo Humain)

We are starting our season with three unique performances of Manou Selhorst’s, previously seen in our production Testament of a Journalist, work-in-progress, part of our new artist development programme, Inter:Action.

In this performance, Manou specifically explores the restaurant setting as a theatrical space: a place where service, time, routine and expectation constantly interact. For this special evening, Madonna Gent has created a menu that brings the world of the performance right onto the plate. In this way, watching, listening and tasting become part of a single sensory experience. Book your place!

Dignity

Chokri Ben Chikha / Action Zoo Humain

Following an impressive run of premiere performances at Theater Aan Zee in Ostend, Dignity continues its tour to Brussels (October 2026) and Rotterdam (January 2027).

De Standaard · ★★★★☆ : “(…) In this war of statements, you are treated to a particularly interesting array of diverse opinions for well over two hours.”

PZAZZ: “Dignity is a thought-provoking production (…) because it makes a heroic attempt to give a voice to all sides of the debate on migration and (neo-)colonialism (…) An incredibly difficult exercise, in which, as a member of the audience, you are constantly forced to take a stance whenever one side presents its arguments.”

Focus WTV: “'Dignity' – the gripping theatre production by Chokri Ben Chikha [and Action Zoo Humain] (…) The Ostend-based theatre maker does not shy away from uncomfortable views, yet avoids resorting to clichés about the migrant crisis. Ultimately, only one thing remains: human dignity. And Chokri captures this perfectly in a confrontation that is at times acrimonious.”

TIMEAFTERTIME

Izah Hankammer / Inter:Action* (Action Zoo Humain)

Following her artistic research in 2024–2025, Izah Hankammer (previously featured in our production Flemish Primitives) will continue to develop TIMEAFTERTIME, which is set to premiere on Wednesday 11 November 2026 at Arca Theatre, Ghent.

As the drought tightens its grip on the earth, humanity is desperately searching for ways to survive. Three women must descend into an abandoned mine in search of a hidden water source.

In her new production, she explores who decides whose body, time and wellbeing are valuable, or may be exploited. As she descends into the mine, another layer also comes to the surface: that of memories, resistance and acceptance.

Persians. Triumph of Empathy

Chokri Ben Chikha / Action Zoo Humain

Karl van den Broeck, chief editor Apache.be (Belgium): "The most radical attempt to raise the audience’s awareness of the genocide in Gaza and the complexity of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict was undoubtedly Persians. Triumph of Empathy by Chokri Ben Chikha, Action Zoo Humain & NTGent"

NRC ★★★★★ (Netherlands): "Director Chokri Ben Chikha refuses to give in to an overly simplistic message of peace."
